Launch & operations

Plan a multilingual website before translating it

Translation is one task inside multilingual publishing. Page relationships, navigation, ownership and update cadence decide whether the second language stays useful after launch.

01

Map equivalent pages

List which pages have an equivalent in each language and which are specific to a market. A language switch should take a reader to the corresponding page where one exists, not silently restart the journey at the homepage.

02

Translate the complete task

Include field labels, error messages, empty states, image descriptions and confirmation messages. Use final-language text in layout checks. Text expansion and writing direction can affect the design well beyond the paragraph being translated.

03

Name an owner for updates

When a price, service or policy changes, someone must update every relevant version. Define what happens when a translation is missing or outdated. Keep publication dates tied to actual editorial changes rather than automatically renewing them on every build.
