# Website platform speed report: Core Web Vitals by platform and country

Which website platform is fastest? This report answers with Google's own field data instead of a lab test: the share of real sites on each platform that pass Core Web Vitals for real Chrome visitors, with Lighthouse medians and page weight alongside, for the United States, Latin America and Spain. It updates every month from the HTTP Archive.

Data: Chrome UX Report and Lighthouse via the HTTP Archive technology report, September 2026 (the latest monthly release). Sites are counted by origin; platforms are detected on the home page and one inner page.

### Is your site slower than its platform's average?

Tell us what it runs on. We'll check your own field data, say what's holding it back and whether fixing it in place or moving platforms makes more sense.

Your site runs on

## Key takeaways

- Compare platforms within one country: in September 2026, 80% of Webflow sites passed Core Web Vitals on mobile in the US, against 44% in Colombia.
- Hosted builders lead on pass rates (Jimdo, Duda, Wix); Next.js sites pass less often than WordPress sites, mostly on responsiveness (INP).
- Astro sites ship little JavaScript and share the highest median Lighthouse performance; WordPress sites struggle with loading (LCP), not responsiveness.
- A platform's average is not your site: field data for your own pages decides whether to fix in place or move.

## How to read the report

Choose a country, a device and what to rank by. Each bar is the share of sites (origins) built on that platform with a good result; the number beside it is how many sites were measured, and the line on the right is the last twelve months. Platforms with fewer than 100 measured sites in a country are listed below the chart instead of ranked, because a handful of sites can swing their numbers.

Compare platforms within one country, not across countries. Connection speeds and phones differ by market, so the same platform scores very differently in New York and in Bogotá. The table under the chart shows every metric for the country and device you chose, and the link button keeps your view so you can share it.

## What the September 2026 data shows

For the country-by-country story (how many sites pass in Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Peru, and why mobile fails), read [Core Web Vitals in Latin America](https://dardo.studio/en/blog/core-web-vitals-latin-america/).

- **The country matters as much as the platform.** On mobile, 80.2% of Webflow sites passed Core Web Vitals in the United States, against 43.6% in Colombia, 50.1% in Mexico and 45.4% in Brazil. WordPress went from 62.0% in the US to 24.7% in Colombia.
- **Mobile is where Latin American sites fail.** In Colombia, 43.6% of Webflow sites passed on mobile and 69.0% on desktop; for WordPress, 24.7% and 38.6%.
- **Hosted builders lead.** Worldwide, Jimdo (93.8% on mobile), Duda (85.8%), GoDaddy's website builder (82.0%) and Wix (80.9%) had the highest pass rates, ahead of Shopify (76.2%), Webflow (71.3%), Astro (71.1%), Squarespace (71.0%) and Framer (70.8%).
- **Next.js sites pass less often than WordPress sites**: 35.7% on mobile worldwide, against 48.3%. Responsiveness is the gap: 59.7% of Next.js sites have a good INP, against 80–97% for WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Wix, Squarespace and Shopify. A framework doesn't make a site fast; how much work it leaves to the phone does.
- **Astro sites ship little JavaScript**: a median of 0.41 MB on mobile worldwide, against 0.82 MB for Next.js and Framer, 0.93 MB for Webflow and 1.8 MB for Wix, and they share the highest median Lighthouse performance score (70) with Hugo.
- **WordPress struggles with loading, not responsiveness.** Worldwide, 55.4% of WordPress sites have a good LCP while 90.3% have a good INP; with the Elementor page builder, good LCP falls to 41.0%.
- **Lab scores and field data disagree.** Squarespace's median Lighthouse performance score is 30, yet 71.0% of its sites pass Core Web Vitals for real visitors. Google uses the field data.
- **Almost everyone improved over the year.** From September 2025 to September 2026, Webflow went from 64.0% to 71.3% on mobile worldwide, Astro from 61.6% to 71.1%, Next.js from 28.1% to 35.7% and WordPress from 45.0% to 48.3%; Shopify stayed at 76.2%.

## Why platforms differ, and why your site may not match its platform

- **Who hosts it.** Hosted builders (Wix, Duda, Squarespace, Webflow, Framer, Shopify) control servers, caching, image resizing and the CDN for every site. Self-hosted WordPress, Drupal or Next.js sites are only as fast as the hosting and setup someone chose.
- **What ships to the browser.** Themes, page builders, plugins, tag managers, chat widgets and client-side rendering all add JavaScript, which is what hurts INP on mid-range phones.
- **What gets built on it.** These numbers describe the sites that use each platform, not the platform in ideal hands. Next.js powers complex web apps as well as marketing sites; WordPress runs everything from one-page brochures to large shops. Correlation, not causation.
- **Where the visitors are.** CrUX counts a visit in the country of the visitor. A US company with many Latin American visitors will see lower numbers than its platform's US average.

## Using the data to choose or leave a platform

Start with your own site: [PageSpeed Insights](https://pagespeed.web.dev/) and Search Console's Core Web Vitals report show your field data, per page group. If your pages fail where your platform's average passes, the cause is usually the build (images, fonts, third-party scripts, the theme) and it can be fixed in place; our [Core Web Vitals playbook](https://dardo.studio/en/blog/pass-core-web-vitals/) covers the usual fixes.

Changing platforms makes sense when the platform itself blocks the fixes: you can't control the scripts it injects, the hosting is out of your hands, or every fix fights a page builder. Then compare the platforms you'd consider in the country your visitors come from, and plan the move so rankings carry over, with a [redirect map](https://dardo.studio/en/tools/redirect-map-generator/) and the [migration SEO checklist](https://dardo.studio/en/blog/website-migration-seo-checklist/). For two common choices, see [Webflow vs Framer](https://dardo.studio/en/blog/webflow-vs-framer/) and [Astro vs Next.js](https://dardo.studio/en/blog/astro-vs-nextjs/).

## How the data is collected

- **Core Web Vitals** come from the [Chrome UX Report](https://developer.chrome.com/docs/crux/methodology) (CrUX): anonymous measurements from real Chrome users, aggregated by origin over 28 days. An origin passes when its 75th-percentile LCP is 2.5 seconds or less, INP 200 milliseconds or less and CLS 0.1 or less. Only sites popular enough to be in CrUX are counted.
- **Platforms** are detected by the HTTP Archive, which crawls millions of sites every month and identifies technologies on the home page and one inner page. A site can count under several technologies (WordPress and Elementor, for example).
- **Lighthouse scores and page weight** are lab measurements of home pages from the HTTP Archive's crawl, reported as medians.
- **This page** reads the HTTP Archive's public technology report API when the site is built and shows the latest monthly release; the date under the chart says which month you're looking at.

## Questions before you choose

**Which website platform is the fastest?**

In the September 2026 data, hosted builders had the highest Core Web Vitals pass rates worldwide: Jimdo (93.8% of sites on mobile), Duda (85.8%), GoDaddy's website builder (82.0%) and Wix (80.9%), then Shopify, Webflow, Astro, Squarespace and Framer, all between 70% and 77%. The order changes by country, so check the one your visitors are in.

**Is Webflow faster than WordPress?**

On average, yes. Worldwide, 71.3% of Webflow sites passed Core Web Vitals on mobile against 48.3% of WordPress sites in September 2026, and the gap holds in every country in the report. A well-built WordPress site can still pass; the average WordPress site loads its main content too slowly (LCP).

**Is Framer faster than Webflow?**

They are close. Worldwide, 70.8% of Framer sites and 71.3% of Webflow sites passed on mobile in September 2026; Framer did better in Mexico and Brazil and Webflow in Colombia. Choose on editing, CMS and pricing rather than speed.

**Does Next.js make a website faster?**

Not by itself. In September 2026, 35.7% of Next.js sites passed on mobile worldwide, fewer than WordPress sites (48.3%), mostly because of responsiveness (INP). Many are complex apps; a Next.js marketing site that ships little JavaScript can pass easily.

**Why are Latin American numbers lower than the US?**

Visitors in Latin America use slower mobile connections and cheaper phones on average, and many sites are served from the US or Europe. The same platform passes far less often in Colombia, Mexico or Brazil, so compare platforms within the country your visitors are in.

**Will moving platforms fix my Core Web Vitals?**

Only if the platform is what's blocking the fixes. Check your own field data first: most failing sites can be fixed in place by sizing images, cutting third-party scripts and simplifying the theme.

**How often is the report updated?**

Monthly. The HTTP Archive publishes a new release each month, and this page shows the latest one; the date under the chart says which month you're looking at.
