# How much does a website redesign cost in 2026? Refresh, redesign and rebuild prices in USD

Published 2026 prices for a website refresh, redesign or rebuild in the US, what a redesign adds over a new site, and how to get quotes you can compare.

## Key takeaways

- From prices published on 15 October 2026, a visual refresh runs about USD 1,000 to 8,000, a redesign on the same platform USD 5,000 to 40,000, and a rebuild on a new platform USD 15,000 to 100,000 or more.
- In Webflow's partner directory, US agencies list a median starting price of USD 8,000 and freelancers worldwide USD 3,000; a starting price is a minimum, not the price of a redesign.
- A redesign carries work a new site doesn't: a URL inventory, redirects kept for at least a year, SEO checks and analytics that carry across the launch.
- Google advises changing one thing at a time, so a new platform, a new domain and a new layout are safer as separate steps.
- Quotes only compare when they rest on the same brief and the same URL count, with design, build, migration and recurring costs on separate lines.

## The short answer

A website redesign in the US costs from about USD 1,000 for a visual refresh by a freelancer to six figures for a large site rebuilt on a new platform. These are the bands the published prices point to, read on 15 October 2026:

| Scope | What changes | Published prices point to | Where the figures come from |
| ----------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Visual refresh | Type, color, imagery and layout on the pages and platform you have | About USD 1,000–8,000 | Upwork's planning range for a website redesign (USD 1,000–5,000); a US designer's listing on Contra (from USD 2,000 for up to five pages); Flowout's landing page refresh (USD 2,500–8,000) |
| Redesign on the same platform | Structure, navigation, templates and content; the platform stays | About USD 5,000–40,000 for a small or mid-size business site | Upwork's senior full-site redesign, design only (USD 4,500–8,000); US agencies' median starting price in Webflow's partner directory (USD 8,000); Clique Studios and Flowout for sites of up to 15–20 pages (USD 15,000–40,000) |
| Rebuild or replatform | Design and the technology underneath; every URL and piece of content moves | About USD 15,000–100,000, and six figures for large sites | Flowout for 20 or more pages (USD 35,000–90,000 and up) and for a migration alone (USD 8,000–30,000); Clique Studios for 30–75 pages (USD 40,000–100,000) and 100 or more (USD 100,000–250,000 and up) |

The bands are our reading of those figures side by side, not a survey. The agency figures are each agency's own claim about what projects like its own cost, and the marketplace figures are planning ranges, not contract data.

For a floor, look at labor. The Bureau of Labor Statistics put the median pay of US web developers and digital designers at USD 47.85 an hour in May 2025 ([BLS](https://www.bls.gov/ooh/computer-and-information-technology/web-developers.htm)). One hundred hours at that wage is USD 4,785 in pay alone, before benefits, software, overhead and profit. A full redesign quoted under USD 5,000 is therefore most likely a refresh, a template, a very small site, or work priced below US wage levels. Any of those can be the right buy; know which one you're getting.

This guide is about changing a site you already have. If you're starting from nothing, our guide to [what a website costs in the US](https://dardo.studio/en/blog/website-cost-united-states/) covers new builds.

## Where redesign prices come from, and how far to trust them

No survey measures what US redesigns cost. The published numbers come from five kinds of source, and each answers a different question:

- **Marketplace planning ranges.** Upwork publishes typical project prices on its hiring pages and calls them planning estimates. They describe its marketplace, which is worldwide.
- **Individual listings.** On Contra, each freelancer publishes a starting price for a defined package. One listing tells you what that person offers, not what the market charges.
- **Partner directories.** Webflow's Certified Partner directory shows the price each partner says its projects start at.
- **Agencies' own guides.** Most "redesign cost" articles are written by agencies that sell redesigns. Their ranges are claims, rarely with a method behind them.
- **Wage data.** The BLS reports what employers pay staff. It is a cost floor, not a price.

The agency figures also get recycled. WebFX puts the average redesign at USD 3,000–75,000, with agencies at USD 5,000–75,000, freelancers at USD 3,000–10,000 and in-house or DIY work at USD 800–5,000 ([WebFX](https://www.webfx.com/web-design/pricing/redesign/)). Lean Labs' FAQ gives the same four ranges ([Lean Labs](https://www.leanlabs.com/faq/b2b-websites/how-much-does-a-website-redesign-typically-cost)), and 310 Creative's 2026 guide gives the same USD 3,000–75,000 total ([310 Creative](https://www.310creative.com/blog/website-redesign-cost)). Three pages agreeing is one figure repeated, not three data points.

| [WebFX](https://www.webfx.com/web-design/pricing/redesign/) | Redesign by provider type: agency; freelancer; in-house or DIY | USD 5,000–75,000; USD 3,000–10,000; USD 800–5,000 |

The unit prices inside the agency guides are more useful than their totals. Clique Studios prices each unique page template at USD 3,000–8,000 and its own work at USD 150–225 an hour. Flowout budgets new copy at USD 3,000–15,000 and each significant integration at USD 2,000–8,000, on top of the redesign. Those are the levers you control.

## What Webflow's partner directory shows about minimum budgets

Directories publish the most prices in one place, so we read all of Webflow's. On 15 October 2026, the [Certified Partner directory](https://experts.webflow.com/browse) listed 2,026 partners across 203 pages, each with a "Starting at" price in US dollars. After removing one duplicate, this is what 2,025 listings show:

| Partners | Listings | Median starting price | Middle half of listings |
| ------------------------------------------------- | -------- | --------------------- | ----------------------- |
| All partners, worldwide | 2,025 | USD 5,000 | USD 2,500–8,000 |
| Freelancers, worldwide | 646 | USD 3,000 | USD 2,000–5,000 |
| Agencies outside the US | 994 | USD 5,000 | USD 3,000–8,000 |
| Agencies in the US | 385 | USD 8,000 | USD 4,250–15,000 |
| US partners with Webflow's Enterprise distinction | 93 | USD 15,000 | USD 10,000–25,000 |

Among US agencies, the most common starting price was USD 10,000 (79 agencies), and 49% started at USD 10,000 or more. Among freelancers, 68% started below USD 5,000.

Read these as the floor of each partner's work, not the price of your redesign. A partner that starts at USD 8,000 is telling you where its projects begin; a redesign with a migration usually sits above that. Two practical uses: filter your shortlist to partners whose starting price fits your budget, and expect a US agency's floor to sit well above a freelancer's before scope enters the conversation (medians of USD 8,000 and USD 3,000).

## Refresh, redesign or rebuild: which one you're buying

Most quotes that look far apart are pricing different scopes. Settle which of these you need before you ask for a number:

| | Visual refresh | Redesign on the same platform | Rebuild or replatform |
| ------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| What changes | Typography, color, imagery and components on the templates you have | Structure, navigation, templates, content and the path to an inquiry | Everything in a redesign, plus the platform, CMS or code underneath |
| What stays | Pages, URLs, content and platform | The platform and most URLs | Ideally the URLs that rank; everything else is rebuilt or moved |
| Typical timeline (as published) | 1–4 weeks: 1–3 weeks on the Contra listings above, 2–4 weeks for a page refresh at Flowout | About 8–12 weeks for up to 15 pages (Flowout) | About 14–20 weeks for a larger site with a complex CMS (Flowout); longer for large sites |
| What drives the cost | How many templates are touched, and whether the build is included | Unique templates, content to rewrite, approval rounds, integrations | URL count, content types to move, integrations, redirects, languages and SEO checks |
| Published prices point to | About USD 1,000–8,000 | About USD 5,000–40,000 | About USD 15,000–100,000 and up |
| Right when | Visitors find what they need and editors can publish, but the site looks dated or off-brand | Buyers can't find or understand the offer, or inquiries get lost, and the platform works | The platform blocks editors or fixes, costs too much to run, or can't be maintained |
| Main risk | Paying for a facelift when the problem is structure | Losing pages that rank when the structure changes | Changing too many things at once |

Three questions usually decide it:

- **Is the problem how the site looks, what it says, or what it runs on?** Looks is a refresh. What it says and how it's organized is a redesign. What it runs on is a rebuild, and only that problem justifies one.
- **Does the platform actually block the fix?** If speed is the complaint, compare your own Core Web Vitals with your platform's average first. If your pages fail where most sites on the same platform pass, the build is the cause, and fixing it in place costs less than moving.
- **How many things are changing at once?** Google's site-move guidance says to change one thing at a time: if you plan a new domain, a new CMS and a new layout, do them one after the other ([Google Search Central](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/site-move-with-url-changes)). Phasing can cost more in total, because some templates are touched twice, but it tells you which change caused any drop in traffic.

## What a redesign costs on top of a new build

A new site starts from a blank page. A redesign starts from a site with URLs that rank, data in analytics, forms wired to a CRM and people who are used to it. That adds line items a new-build quote doesn't have, and the cheapest quotes tend to leave them out.

### A content audit and URL inventory

Every existing URL needs a decision before design starts: keep, rewrite, merge or retire. That work scales with the number of URLs, not with the number of new templates, so a 300-page blog costs more to redesign than a 30-page site with the same design. Get your real count from the sitemap, a crawl and Search Console's page indexing report, and put it in the brief.

Rewriting is a separate cost. Clique Studios prices copywriting at USD 100–300 a page and Flowout at USD 3,000–15,000 for a site, both as their own claims. If your team will write, say so, and say who decides each page's fate.

### URL mapping and redirects

Google says to map every old URL to its new equivalent, keep the redirects "generally at least 1 year", and avoid sending many old URLs to one unrelated page such as the home page, which it may treat as a soft 404 ([Google Search Central](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/site-move-with-url-changes)). Upwork's planning range for redirect mapping and implementation by a senior freelancer is USD 4,000–7,500 a project.

You can do the first pass yourself before asking for quotes. Our free [redirect map generator](https://dardo.studio/en/tools/redirect-map-generator/) reads both sitemaps, matches each old URL to its closest new page, flags the rows that need a decision and exports the rules for Netlify, Cloudflare, Apache, Nginx, Vercel, Next.js, Astro or Shopify. A map with the obvious rows already matched gives every provider the same starting point, so their quotes are easier to compare. The full sequence of checks is in our [website migration SEO checklist](https://dardo.studio/en/blog/website-migration-seo-checklist/).

### SEO protection

Pages that keep their place in search should keep what earned it: the title, description, headings, main content, structured data, internal links and, on multilingual sites, their language alternates. Someone has to check that on staging, crawl the launched site for broken links and missed redirects, and watch Search Console for weeks afterwards. Google warns that rankings fluctuate during a move and that for a medium-sized site it "can take a few weeks or more" for the new URLs to replace the old ones.

That checking is a priced line. Upwork's planning range for post-migration monitoring and SEO validation is USD 7,500–12,000 a project at expert level. Ask every provider whether it's included, for how long, and what happens if they find a problem after launch.

### Analytics that carry across the launch

If the redesign creates a new analytics property, you lose the before-and-after comparison that tells you whether it worked. Keep the same Google Analytics 4 property, recreate key events on the new forms and buttons, and note the launch date.

Check one setting first. On a standard GA4 property, event data is kept for 2 or 14 months, and that limit applies to explorations and funnel reports, not to the standard reports ([Google Analytics Help](https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/7667196)). If yours is set to 2 months, switch it to 14 before the redesign starts. Export your Search Console performance data before launch too.

### Stakeholder rounds and decisions

Clique Studios lists the number of stakeholders and revision rounds among the main cost drivers of a redesign. They weigh more than on a new site, because existing pages have owners: sales owns the pricing page, HR owns careers, someone wrote the case studies. In our own projects, content decisions and approvals often set the pace more than design does. A good quote states how many rounds are included, who signs off each stage and what an extra round costs.

### The line items to look for

| Line item | What it covers | Published reference |
| --------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Content audit and inventory | A decision for every URL: keep, rewrite, merge or retire | Priced per scope; ask for the URL count it assumes |
| New copy | Rewriting pages that stay | USD 100–300 a page (Clique Studios); USD 3,000–15,000 a site (Flowout) |
| Templates | Design and build of each unique layout | USD 3,000–8,000 each (Clique Studios) |
| Redirect map | Old URL to new URL, tested before launch | USD 4,000–7,500 (Upwork planning range) |
| SEO checks and monitoring | Staging checks, post-launch crawl, Search Console follow-up | USD 7,500–12,000 (Upwork planning range) |
| Integrations | CRM, booking, payments, data from other systems | USD 2,000–8,000 each (Flowout) |
| Analytics continuity | Same property, key events rebuilt, launch annotated | Usually inside the build; ask |

## Running costs after launch

A redesign is also the moment to check what the site costs every month, because a rebuild is when you can change it. On 15 October 2026, Webflow's site plans were USD 15 a month for Basic and USD 25 for Premium, billed yearly, and each extra full editor seat cost USD 39 a month, billed yearly ([Webflow](https://webflow.com/pricing)). Existing Webflow sites move to those prices at renewal, and some pay more; our [Webflow pricing 2026](https://dardo.studio/en/blog/webflow-pricing-2026/) guide works out which.

A coded site that serves static pages can cost little to host. Cloudflare's Workers paid plan has a USD 5 minimum a month per account, and requests for static assets are free and unlimited ([Cloudflare](https://developers.cloudflare.com/workers/platform/pricing/)). The recurring cost then moves to the CMS and to maintenance. Clique Studios budgets maintenance at 15–20% of the build cost a year, as its own estimate; Dardo's maintenance starts at USD 79 a month. Compare three years of running costs, not the launch price alone.

Speed is a common reason to rebuild, and it's worth checking before you pay for one. In September 2026, 80.2% of Webflow sites passed Core Web Vitals on mobile for US visitors, against 62.0% of WordPress sites, 55.6% of WordPress sites built with Elementor and 51.6% of Next.js sites. Our [website platform speed report](https://dardo.studio/en/tools/website-platform-speed-report/) shows those rates by platform and country from Google's field data. If your site fails where your platform's average passes, fix the build; move only when the platform is what blocks the fix.

## How to scope a redesign so quotes are comparable

Two quotes for "a redesign" can differ by ten times or more because they price different work. Send every provider the same brief, with the facts a redesign quote depends on:

- The number of URLs today and the pages that bring most visits and inquiries
- Which pages need their own layout, and which can share a template
- Who writes the copy, and whether any page must be rewritten
- Whether the platform stays, and if not, why
- Forms, integrations and tools that must keep working
- Languages, and who reviews each one
- Whether search traffic must be protected (it usually must)
- A deadline and a budget range

Our free [website RFP template and brief builder](https://dardo.studio/en/tools/website-rfp-template/) asks those questions, with options for a redesign of your current site and for a move to a new platform, and writes the brief as you answer. It needs no email.

Then ask every provider to separate design, development, content, migration and redirects, SEO checks, third-party software and recurring costs, and to state the hours or assumptions behind each line. A total on its own doesn't compare: USD 30,000 buys about 130 to 200 hours at Clique Studios' stated USD 150–225 an hour, and 600 to 2,000 hours at the USD 15–50 an hour Upwork gives for web developers. If a quote can't say roughly how many of its hours go to the URL inventory and redirects, it probably didn't plan them. Our guide on [how to compare web design studios](https://dardo.studio/en/blog/compare-design-studios/) has the questions to ask each finalist and a scoring sheet.

## How Dardo quotes a website redesign

We quote each [website redesign](https://dardo.studio/en/services/website-redesign/) per scope, after an inventory of the current site, because the URL count, the content decisions and the platform set the work. We don't publish a redesign price. Our [pricing page](https://dardo.studio/en/pricing/) lists the budget ranges our inquiry form offers: under USD 5,000, 5,000–15,000, 15,000–30,000, 30,000–60,000 and over 60,000. Choosing one is optional, it isn't a price list, and there's no minimum budget.

Every proposal puts discovery and design, development, content, migration, third-party software and recurring costs on separate lines, with the assumptions each depends on. When the platform has to change, the move is planned URL by URL as a [website migration](https://dardo.studio/en/services/website-migration/); when a site needs new templates and structure, the design work follows our [web design](https://dardo.studio/en/services/web-design/) process. We're a team of three in Bogotá, on UTC−5 all year, which overlaps the US workday, and we work in English and Spanish. We haven't published a redesign case study yet, so ask us to walk you through the migration plan for your own site before you decide.

## Common questions

**How much does a website redesign cost for a small business?**

From prices published in October 2026, a visual refresh of a small site costs about USD 1,000 to 8,000, and a redesign of a 10- to 20-page site by an agency about USD 15,000 to 40,000. Upwork's planning range for a website redesign by an intermediate to expert freelancer is USD 1,000 to 5,000. The difference is mostly scope: how many templates change, who writes the copy and whether URLs and integrations move.

**Is it cheaper to redesign a website or build a new one?**

A refresh or a redesign on the same platform is usually cheaper than a new build, because the platform, much of the content and most URLs stay. A rebuild on a new platform can cost more than a new site of the same size, because every existing page needs a decision, every changed URL needs a tested redirect and analytics have to carry across. Rebuild only when the platform itself blocks what you need.

**How long does a website redesign take?**

Published estimates put a page or visual refresh at one to four weeks, a full redesign of up to 15 pages at about 8 to 12 weeks, and a larger site with a complex CMS at about 14 to 20 weeks. Content decisions and approvals often take longer than design. A schedule given before anyone has counted the URLs is a guess.

**Will a website redesign hurt my SEO?**

It can if URLs change without redirects, ranking pages disappear, or titles, content and internal links are lost. Google advises mapping every old URL to its new equivalent, keeping redirects for at least a year and expecting rankings to fluctuate for a few weeks or more on a medium-sized site. Keeping the URLs that already rank, where the new structure allows it, is the simplest protection.

**What should a website redesign quote include?**

Separate lines for discovery and design, development, content, the URL inventory and redirects, SEO checks after launch, third-party software and recurring costs. It should state the number of URLs and templates it assumes, how many revision rounds are included, the post-launch correction window and who owns the domain, hosting, code and design files. A single total with none of that can't be compared with anything.

**Should I change platforms when I redesign?**

Only when the platform is the problem: editors can't publish, the fixes you need aren't possible, or running costs have outgrown the site. Google recommends changing one thing at a time, so if you need both a new platform and a new design, consider moving first with the same structure and redesigning after, or redesigning while keeping the URLs. Each step is then easier to check.
